Hook: Hanak wet fly hook
Body: Peacock
Hackle: Black hen
I like to tie in the hackle first, since this makes it easier to create a neat head. After that, tie in three peacock herls, twist the thread with the peacock in order to form a ropeand wind around the body. This gives extra durability and removes the need for ribbing wire.
After you are done with the body, wind the hackle around the body. Don't do more than two turns. Otherwise this thing will float, especially when you don't want it to float. Like a German fly fishing master of the 60ies said: "Nothing floats better than a not impregnated wet fly". True words.
Interesting to see that flies like these originated in several areas in the world independent of each other. There is only one reason for this: Traveling aliens showed this fly to humans in different parts of the world. Or maybe fish are eating bugs everyhwere and a good imitation will easily be recognised by fishermen all over the world. Who knows.
