Red quill & CDC

Hook: Hanak jig hook

Bead: Slotted bead

CDC: CDC

Quill: Magic Quill

I do prefer the look of natural quill on these patterns, but sometimes I want something cheap and fast.

Tie in the quill and wrap forwards. Don't pull the quill too hard, even this synthetic stuff can break. Ad a thin layer of varnish and wait 1h, or take UV epoxy. If you have the patience to wait, i suggest you also take the quill in order to make it perfectly old school. After this is done, split your thread, put a bit of CDC in and wrap around the shank directly after the bead. If you take synthetic quill, which is a clear material, the colour of the tying thread is the colour of the body. Automatic colour matching. What a time to be alive.
