Hook: Hanak dry fly hook
Wing: CDC
Dubbing: CDC/squirrel mix
Start with the dubbing at the hook bend. Wind forward until 60% of the shank is covered. Tie in 3 CDC feathers for a size 12 hook in. These feathers point backwards. Dub the remaining part. Catch the CDC with the binding thread. Do two turns and then finish the fly off in front of the CDC, which is bending the feather upwards.
This is a fly which looks beautiful in the fly box and simply delivers. It is very seldom to get refusals with this one.
But of course it is not all sunshine: After you caught a fish on it, it often doesn't float anymore. If this happens, the easiest solution is to wash it in the stream, dry it with a couple of blind casts and then simply tie on a new one. After the old fly is compleely dried, it will float like new.
