Hook: size 14 Hanak jig hook
Bead: 3 mm slotted bead
Body: holo tinsel
Collar: peacock hearl
I do prefer black beads to shiny golden ones, because I have seen fish rejecting those when fishing pressure is high. I still like some sparkle, though, so I opted for a holo tinsel body.
After wrapping the tinsel around the hook shank, I secure it with UV epoxy. I have a love/hate relationship with this glue, just because it is more glueing than tying. On the other hand I lack the patience to wait until normal fly tying varnish has dried, so I just throw my principles over board from time to time. The collar of the fly is just peacock, which I twist with the thread to a rope before tying it in. In this way the fly becomes super robust. Since I like tone in tone for this pattern I opted for a green tying thread.
For me perdigon nymphs are more a tying principle, so feel free to choose whatever colors and materials you see fit.
